Voter Resources

About 60% of voting still occurs on election day. For most of us, it is an enjoyable opportunity to express our opinion with a vote.  For some others, it may present a challenge.  We will include some notes on those challenges here to help those voters.

Voting is open from 6am to 8pm.  New Jersey ends voting at 8pm.  There is sometimes confusion because New York ends at 9pm. 

Your polling location will be printed on the sample ballot that will be mailed to you.  If you lose your ballot and can’t remember where to go, I suggest going to one of the polling locations in town and getting assistance.  Our polling locations are the Mountainville Meeting Hall, Zion Lutheran Church Meeting Hall, and the Oldwick First Aid and Rescue Squad building.

If there is a line at 8pm, anyone who is already in line at 8pm should be allowed to vote.  The Tewksbury Democrats will have a Poll Watcher at each polling location at the end of the day.  In the extremely unlikely event that there is an issue, make them aware of it.  You can identify them by the badges they will be wearing.  These badges are issued by the Hunterdon County Board of Elections.  Of course, making sure you are there long before 8pm makes this point moot.

If a voter believes they are registered, but for any reason do not appear in the rolls being used by the poll workers, they are entitled to vote using a provisional ballot.  See the quote from the NJ election website below.

“A provisional ballot is cast by a voter whose eligibility to vote cannot be confirmed at the polls on Election Day or if they have applied for a vote-by-mail ballot. If, after the election, it is determined that the voter who cast the provisional ballot was eligible to vote, the ballot will be counted.”
